Short Description: [dark-haired] [pale] [darkbrowneyes] [male] [blacklab]
Physical Description:
Jack is about average height -- 5"10, as closely as can be guessed, and has a lean, hard figure. He's not muscular by any lengths, strong enough to get by, but his affinity for books and knowledge seems to exceed his need for a magnificent body of rippling muscle. Not that he doesn't have the potential -- if he wanted to work out he could probably get himself some impressive biceps and a six-pack. But that's just not Jack. For now he is, if anything, rather skinny from lack of food.Personality:
For one thing his skin is rather pale; so pale he looks unhealthy from lack of sun. This is probably more true than he thinks. A striking contrast against his pale complexion; his lean face is framed with dark brown hair so dark it appears black at first. It is parted in the middle, falling equally on both sides of his face in a faint wave, old fashion though it might seem this his how he likes it. It reaches just above his ears, though naturally layered. Jack does his best to keep his haired brushed and out of his face, but it being naturally soft and thick, almost always appears messy or tousled; falling in his eyes for an unintentionally charming look.
His face is generally clean-shaven and pale as always, though occasionally he'll get lazy and allow a little stubble to appear on his chin. His complexion is rather handsome, with high cheekbones and faded lips, though his dark hair and fair skin gives his looks a dark, exotic beauty rather than shallow attraction.
Jack's eyes match his hair almost perfectly, striking against his pale skin, they are dark brown and cool, impenetrable.
Jack's clothes are the typical getup for his time. Jeans, dark is his style though he sometimes goes for faded or classic. Shirt, most of the time buttoned in pale, plain colors, but the occasional t-shirt. He can be found most of the time wearing his black jacket, though he'll sometimes be caught with a sweatshirt. He wears sneakers, black or blue.
High-strung.History:
Jack is never off guard, constantly tense and a bit overly paranoid of everyone. He is a guard, but his true passion is investigation, and he looks everywhere for the chance to put his skills to work. He is constantly edgy, especially around people he doesn't know, always seeming to be on the alert and on the move. Even when he is sitting down he is idly fiddling with something, keeping watch closely, or taking notes in his notebook.
Prudish.
Jack is seen by many as prudish and overly concerned with being polite and clean in his speech, attire, and way of life. He is a bit paranoid, and a bit wary of girls, tending to stay away from them as much as he can. Despite not being very old himself, he disapproves of sloppy and intolerable kits, though he generally dislikes all children. He comes off as a bit standoffish, a bit stoic and cold when you first meet him. With people he trusts or dislikes it is evident in his formal, cold attitude. He is not very good at voicing his emotions or feelings, though he can speak for hours about science and books. Though through his cold veneer, those who grow closer to him begin to see a side that is really him -- warm, compassionate, selfless, and it is clear that he has a far greater capacity for love than for hate and coldness. He really cares about people, is generally unbiased and is the type to be a strong advocate for equal rights and fight against poverty. He's a selfless human being, one who cares about other people, that is clear. That is who he really is, and people to he truly likes, he may let down his guard.
Fragile.
Jack is an exceedingly fragile person, more physically than emotionally. He's a bit weak when it comes to his fears, prone to fainting or throwing up a bit more than the average person. He has a weak stomach and is easily grossed out by something gruesome.
Intelligent.
There is no doubt of his intelligence. He is sharp, extraordinarily sharp, resourceful, intuitive, innovative, and very articulate. He also has a great thirst for knowledge, reading and learning as much as he can as he goes along, seeming to always have a book near him. He not only reads -- he writes. Poems, short stories, essays, or simply jotting down notes -- he is as much an author as a scientist. He takes great pride in his knowledge and faith in his books and the facts that he knows, having even invented some things and come up with a few ideas on his own.
Brave.
Jack appears to be a coward. Perhaps he is, but if he's a coward he is one of the bravest cowards alive. Small things scare him terribly -- spiders and bats, for one -- are his worst nightmare. And at the same time he will face his worst enemy in the flesh -- jumping ahead in battle and proving his physical bravery to the utmost, though being terrified at the same time. Because of this, though he appears cowardly and weak at first, he has a hidden streak of bravery that exceeds the capabilities of most people, revealed when the need is most dire. But he is still terrified of bats, and most other nasty but trivial things.
Practical.
His intelligence is clear, as is his heavy reliance on logic. Jack doesn't believe anything he can't see -- he's not religious, he doesn't believe in ghosts. He is utterly a realist and scorns those who are superstitious or those who are overly idealogical. He believes strongly in reason and consequence, cause and effect, using logic and science to explain everything. To him, seeing is believing.
Arrogant.
For the most part he is modest. Though he is a good-looking man, Jack things of himself as rather unattractive, hating his pale complexion and messy hair. However, he can become absorbed in his idea, believing himself only to be right and often find himself blinded from the truth by logic and his strong sense of needing to be right. He doesn't like being told he's wrong, and loves to be right. So what arrogance that he has mostly comes from his intelligence, which he knows plainly and will not boast about, but secretly treasure. He hates it when someone appears smarter than he is.

nope.Shift:
black labShift Description:
Jack's shift form is almost the opposite of himself. Instead of being thin and bookish, his shift is huge and muscular; muscles rippling beneath the glossy black pelt of the black lab. His eyes are the same cool, dark brown, though they seem different with a dog's face; softer. Dull gray claws protrude from his heavy black paws, more for crushing than slashing; his gleaming white teeth are the sharp ones.Roleplay Sample:
When Jack shifts it's a fair bit more disturbing than most shifts. Like most, it takes scarcely more than a second, but within that fraction of a second you see his form actually melt, become shapeless and instantly reform into his new form. You actually see the process of changing, his skin shifting and limbs lengthening as his spine bends and his skull grows long, skin stretching over and clothes sucked into his skin as black fur sprouts from human flesh. Even in that little time; its a rather gruesome experience for those who aren't quiet used to it.
